About The Fromologist

I’m Elise Daley, founder of The Fromologist.

With formal industry education, training and experience across the horticulture, wine, hospitality, and cheese industries in both Australia and Europe, my career has been shaped by a passion for quality produce.

My work has always been hands on, shaped by curiosity and a genuine interest in people, places, and produce. From vineyards and farms to private estate gardens and behind shop counters, each role has influenced and supported the next, shaping a broad and thoughtful approach to my work.

Added to a broad and adaptable skillset, together they’ve given me a strong appreciation for quality, care, and connection. Whether it’s through food, or simply tending a garden, I value thoughtful work and the stories that come with it.

The Fromologist

The Fromologist is a term once used to describe someone who collected cheese labels, appearing in advertising and newspapers from around the 1950s onwards. While the word has largely fallen out of use today, replaced by more modern terms within the cheese industry, “The Fromologist” felt like the right fit for my business.

When I came across the word, I was drawn to its association with cheese and wine labels, objects that become part of the journey and story of the food they represent.

Like the products they cover, labels are often created with care, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. They tell a story of place, people, and tradition.

In many ways, The Fromologist carries that same spirit: an appreciation for detail, history, craftsmanship, and the stories behind what we collect and share.

I am also a civil marriage celebrant

Practising civil marriage celebrant, specialising in elopements, I plan small interment gatherings where the ceremony is planned custom for the couple.
